Government of India have negotiated with International Development Agency (IDA) and Global Environment Facility (GEF) about implementation of the Project for Conservation of Bio diversity in seven critical Protected Areas (Pas) of the country, of which Nagarahole National Park is one. |

The main objectives of the Project are: |

| a. |
To improve the capacity of Protected Area management activities to conserve bio-diversity and increase the opportunities for local participation in protected area management activities and decisions. |
| b. |
To reduce negative impact of local people on bio diversity, reduce negatice impact of Protected Areas on local people and increase collaboration of local people in conservation efforts. |
| c. |
To develop more effective & extensive support for eco-development |
| d. |
To ensure effective management of the project, and |
| e. |
To prepare future bio-diversity projects. |

The Project is for 3 lakes for 3 years. It has assistance of Rs. 4 crores. It started in the year 1997-98.
